Why Books are Secret Portals to Uncharted Worlds

Why Books are Secret Portals to Uncharted Worlds

Whenever the recess bell rings, while many classmates rush to the playground, you will often find me in the quiet corner of the Bal Geetanjali library, nestled into a beanbag with a thick novel in hand.

This month, I completed The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and Wings of Fire by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. What fascinates me most about reading is that without buying a plane ticket or building a time machine, a book transports you across centuries, continents, and galaxies.

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The person who never reads lives only one.”

Reading has improved my English vocabulary, made essay writing effortless, and taught me empathy by experiencing life through diverse characters’ perspectives. If you haven’t visited our newly refurbished library yet, make sure to visit this week — your next adventure is waiting on shelf number 4!
